The Portuguese had already won his first Ballon d’Or award by the time EA Sports introduced their most most popular game mode – Ultimate Team.

Ronaldo’s incredible achievements over the following years as FIFA’s Ultimate Team continued to expand has meant the forward was often the game’s best and most expensive player to use.

The 36-year-old has the most 99-rated cards in the game mode’s history – many of which have been as a result of his inclusion in Team of the Year.

Ronaldo has been named in all 13 TOTY’s back to FIFA 09 in which Paris Saint-Germain pair Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos are the only other active stars.

Yet Ronaldo’s epic run may finally be coming to an end on FIFA 22 following one of the most difficult years of his career.

Ronaldo only managed to win one trophy in 2021, the Coppa Italia triumph with Juventus, and saw Portugal fail to defend their European Championship crown.

The Portuguese’s first season back at Old Trafford has also not gone to plan with Man United currently seventh in the Premier League.
